What Do The Words Mean?

Sometimes I find it helpful to pull the dictionary off the shelf to find out what words really mean. I did this recently for the words;  change, hope and audacity. Read the definitions, what does Obama mean when he uses these words?

From Webster’s II:

Change (chanj) v  changed, chang-ing  1. To make or become different : alter.  2. To take, put, or use in place of another : exchange.  3. To replace by another.  4. To give or receive the equivalent of (money) in smaller demoninations or foreign currency.  5. To put fresh coverings or clothes on

Audacious (o-da’shas)  adj  1. Bold : daring 2. Arrogantly impudent : insolent.   –au-da’ciously  adv      audac’-ty  (o-das’i-te)

Hope (hop) v hoped, hop-ing  To want or wish for with a feeling of confident expectation –n  1. A wish or desire accompanied by expectation of its fulfillment.  2. Something wished. 3. One that gives cause for hope.

Two of these words are from the title of Barack Obama’s book Audacity of Hope. He took the name from one of  his pastor Rev. Wright’s sermons. Yes, the same minister who’s pews he sat in for twenty years. Would you receive hope from hearing Rev. Wrights words?

In the dictionary the word hope comes between hop and hopper.  Obama seems to hop from answering questions from his past alliances with Bill Ayers, Rev. Wright, ACORN, and other radicals. He also seems to hop his tax plan from one day to the next, depending on which way the political wind blows. Which way will he hop if he he is elected? The American citizens will be put in the hopper.

Change – he will certainly do that, he will change the way we live.
