Two novelists that write books based on some of the happenings of these times; terrorism and national security are Brad Thor and Vince Flynn.
Both of these gentlemen have a special insight on the threats facing us today and some of the measures that are used to counter these threats. As these books are fiction - they are scary based an the former and hopeful based on the later.
Of course the best defense against terrorism is knowledge, whether it is government intelligence or the individuals being aware of what is going on in the world.
